The following are examples of common situations
where referral to a nephrologist is required.
While it covers most conditions, the list is by
no means exhaustive:
- Acute nephritis
- Proteinuria
- Unexplained haematuria
- Renal failure
- Diabetic nephropathy
- Inherited kidney disease
- Difficult hypertension
Please make use of our online referral
form to refer your patients. If you simply

When in doubt, refer. It's better to refer
earlier than too late. When chronic renal failure
is diagnosed early, renoprotective measures may
still be effective in slowing or arresting the
relentless march to end-stage renal failure.
